A Specialist School in Maths and Computing

Snow Line Warning

Information regarding school closures will be detailed here should the need arise.  This website will be updated by 7.30am.

The school takes into account such things as: - weather forecasts, bus information and site condition in making decisions about opening or closing.  At all times the safety of students and staff is paramount.

Examinations

The School will endeavour to run all examinations.  Should they need to be cancelled, they will be advised here.  Please check daily in the event of bad weather. Should adverse weather conditions result in students not managing to get into school, they will take the exam during the Summer examinations period.

(Please note this page is updated as and when the situation changes).

This "Snow Line" page keeps you up to date about the possibility of the school being closed due to adverse weather conditions.

Queensbury School is 1,050 feet above sea level, it is the highest secondary school in the country, but we rarely close because of snow.

Our tradition is to be open and teach our students for every one of the 190 school days in each year.

If there is heavy snow overnight, and it is not possible to open the school, we will update this page between 6.45am and 7.30am .

Please do not ring the school. If it is later than 7.30am and the above message says that the school is open then all students should attend should it be safe for them to do so.

If there is heavy snow after 7.30am or during the day we will monitor the situation.

The school takes into account weather forecasts, bus information and site conditions before making decisions about opening / closing.  At all times the safety of students, staff and visitors is paramount.

Students will be allowed to leave early if we anticipate problems for journeys home but only after they have first contacted parents.

Faciltiies will be available for a student to remain in school should that be requested or should they be unable to contact home.
